An interesting trend this year has been the rise of "Spongebob rap," which is...exactly what it sound like.
It started earlier this year when Oddwin dropped "Krusty Krew Anthem" plus a few other songs in the same vein. They quickly blew up, actually topping charts and getting played at real life clubs/parties.
I'm not here to say anyone other than Oddwin started this trend, and I'm giving him his flowers. However, I'm here to talk about another Spongebob rap creator:
Glorb.
I do suspect he uses AI for his voices, as opposed to Oddwin actually doing the impressions himself. However, that doesn't change the fact that these songs slap, and in this review I'm going to be ranking all 10 (so far) of them.
- KFC - "NO BITCH THIS IS PATRICK" alone easily solidifies this as the best track from Glorb, let alone Dankton. Both these guys sound hungry AF (literally and metaphorically) and this would probably be a smash hit even if it wasnt a SpongeBob song.
- EUGENE - Another Mr Swags banger, but SpongeOpp and SquidWock are at their very best here. Yes Squidward, you are indeed him
- STD - One of my personal favorites, you know when Dankton shouts "GANG" you're about to hear a hit. The disses still aren't as hard as they are on KFC
- The Bottom - By far the best performance from Mr Swags. We're also introduced to SquidWock in this song, whom I would love to see some solo tracks from.
- Krab Walk - Didn't stand out at first but it's grown on me.
- MHMM - Matching the energy of KFC, Sandy is out for blood on this one. The song itself isn't necessarily my favorite style, but I have to give her her flowers on this one.
- FUN - SpongeOpp with the BARS 🔥 this is the point in Glorb's discog where Dankton starts to have some real competition
- Musk v Zuck - This is an odd deviation from the SpongeBob rap that Glorb is known for; with that being said I enjoy it enough. Little bit of ERB vibes though. I wanna see Glorb experiment with other IPs in the future
- KYS - The weakest of Dankton's three tracks imo, it still goes hard but he could have done more with the post-chorus than "haha Krabs kill yourself."
- The Formula - You can tell this is Glorb's first drop, the sound is a bit rough. It isn't a bad song, but between their other songs I don't come back to this one much.
